Odom's destination for the 2009-10 season had remained in doubt after the Lakers pulled an initial offer of a reported $27 million guaranteed over three years off the table. As the other franchises with significant salary cap space spent their money elsewhere, the Miami Heat emerged as a serious contender for Odom's services. On Tuesday, the Portland Trail Blazers also got into the mix, offering a five-year, $40 million deal, according to a source close to Odom.
It's always nice to hear about something like that after the fact. As far as I know, there were no mutterings of any deal offered to Odom. I'm not sure whether I believe this or it was just a way for Lamar's camp to make it sound like he really wanted to be in Los Angeles. I don't neccessarily believe it, but if it did happen, it would certainly be amusing to see him in Portland.

UPDATE: Very tricky J.A., Marc and ESPN.com, since I posted this article, they have since removed the details of the Blazers offer to Lamar Odom. This is the only mention of the Blazers now:

That is weak! So the offer details were in fact BS? HAHA, things change fast on the internet. Thanks to Rip City Project for the heads up on Twitter.
UPDATE 2: Apparently Kevin Pritchard just text messaged John Canzano and said Portland could not have signed Odom with the current cap situation. Perhaps there were talks between the Blazer organization and Lamar Odom, but probably nothing official or substantial.
