Celtics keep 'Big Baby' happy

The Boston Celtics yesterday gave restricted free agent Glen "Big Baby" Davis a two-year deal worth $6 million and also signed free agent Shelden Williams.
Davis, a former LSU star, helped the Celtics win an NBA championship two years ago in his rookie season. The 23-year-old power forward averaged 7 points and 4 rebounds per game last season, but saw more playing time after injuries to Kevin Garnett and others.
The 25-year-old Williams, a former Duke star, was the fifth overall draft pick by Atlanta in 2006. He averaged 4.1 points per game for Minnesota last season.
T'wolves hire Rambis. After years spent playing under Pat Riley and coaching under Phil Jackson, Kurt Rambis is finally getting a chance to run a team.
The Los Angeles Lakers assistant has been hired as coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves to replace Kevin McHale in hopes of transforming a struggling franchise into a contender. Terms were not disclosed, but the T'wolves said that they have an agreement. Rambis will be introduced today.
Rambis, 51, was one of three finalists along with former NBA star Mark Jackson and Houston assistant Elston Turner. He will replace Kevin McHale, who was let go by Minnesota on June 17.
The Timberwolves also worked out final contract details with restricted free agent Ryan Hollins.
Minnesota signed the former Dallas center to an offer sheet Aug. 3.
Nuggets lose Kleiza. Denver lost another player who helped it reach the Western Conference finals last season.
Forward Linas Kleiza, who played four seasons in Denver, is taking his game to Europe.
Nuggets executive Mark Warkentien said Kleiza has decided to play for Olympiakos, agreeing to a two-year deal with the Greek team worth more than $12 million.
He is the second free agent to bolt Denver, joining starter Dahntay Jones, a pesky defensive stopper who signed a four-year, $11 million contract with the Indiana Pacers.
The Nuggets retain Kleiza's NBA rights.
Hill joins Kuester. The Detroit Pistons hired Brian Hill as an assistant coach on John Kuester's first staff as an NBA head coach.
Hill led the Orlando Magic to the 1995 NBA Finals and was the Vancouver Grizzlies' first coach. He was on the New Jersey Nets' staff for the last two seasons.
Kuester is a former assistant with the 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers.
