Celts open with Cavs; spend Christmas with Magic

The Celtics know they’re back on the NBA map when they start the season early and work on Christmas.
The NBA released its 2009-10 schedule today, and the marathon was highlighted yet again by an opening night (Oct. 27) game against Cleveland, though this time in Quicken Loans Arena. The Celtics return home the next night for a game against Charlotte, the team they now share affiliation with for the NBDL’s Portland Red Claws.
They travel to Orlando for a Christmas day game against last season’s eastern conference semifinal opponent. The game will be covered by ABC. The Celtics’ opening night game against Cleveland will kick off TNT’s broadcast schedule. The Cavs will also play two games in the Garden - Feb. 25 aqnd April 4.
The Lakers make their annual Garden visit on Sunday, Jan. 31. Chicago, the team that took the Celtics to seven games in last year’s first round series - a historic stretch that featured four overtime games and seven overtime periods - will come in for the third game of the season on Oct. 30, and return on Jan. 14. The Magic will also make two Boston appearances this season, on Nov. 20 and Feb. 7.
After playing in Chicago on St. Patrick’s Day last season, the Celtics get to host the event this season with the Knicks the March 17 opponent.
Season tickets in the loge and balcony are sold out, though enrollment in Club Green includes addition to the season ticket waiting list. A limited number of premium seat season tickets and game night suite rentals are still avilable.
