Lakers, top draft pick Griffin help tip off 2009-10 NBA season

The 2009-10 NBA season tips off with four games Oct. 27, including the battle at Staples Center between the Los Angeles Clippers and top draft pick Blake Griffin and the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers.
TNT will show that game and the day's earlier matchup of the Boston Celtics against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena, in Shaquille O'Neal's debut as LeBron James' teammate.
TEAM SCHEDULES: Team-by-team
REGULAR SEASON: Day-by-day schedules
The Lakers will make a total of 25 appearances throughout the season on TNT, ESPN, ABC and NBA TV, including both regular-season games against the NBA Finals runner-up Orlando Magic (Jan. 18 in Los Angeles, March 7 in Orlando).
Five games will be shown Christmas Day, starting at noon ET with the Miami Heat at the New York Knicks (ESPN); the Boston Celtics at the Magic (ABC); the Cavaliers at the Lakers (ABC); the Clippers at the Phoenix Suns (ESPN) and the Denver Nuggets at the Portland Trail Blazers (ESPN).
ESPN will have 75 regular-season games, including 27 on Wednesdays and 35 on Fridays. TNT will have 53 games, most on Thursdays.
For the second year in a row, NBA TV will feature "Fan Night" on Tuesdays, when fans can vote for the games they want to see on the network. That begins Nov. 3.
Some other highlights:
•The All-Star Game is Feb. 14 at the new stadium of the NFL's Dallas Cowboys, on TNT.
•Both Celtics-Lakers games will be shown, Jan. 31 in Boston (ABC) and Feb. 18 in Los Angeles (TNT).
•Not counting the "Fan Night" decisions, Boston and Orlando will make 32 appearances nationally; Cleveland and the Denver Nuggets, 29; the San Antonio Spurs, 28 and the Miami Heat, 23.
