Odom will stick with Lakers

After a rocky free agent courtship, Lamar Odom agreed on a multiyear contract Thursday to stay with the Los Angeles Lakers, keeping intact most of the roster that won the team's 15th NBA title this summer.

Lakers spokesman John Black confirmed an agreement but wouldn't discuss specifics. Odom hasn't signed the deal but could do so as early as Friday.

The contract, expected to contain three guaranteed years and a fourth-year option, maintains the Lakers' core of Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Derek Fisher and Odom alongside new teammate Ron Artest.

The 6-foot-10-inch Odom, a 10-year veteran, proved his determination to win last season when he thrived in a reserve role, averaging 12.3 points and 9.1 rebounds in the playoffs. He repeatedly said he preferred to stay with the Lakers but apparently came close to leaving for the Heat or Trail Blazers.
--The Bulls waived forward Linton Johnson III and guard DeMarcus Nelson. Johnson played in eight games last season and averaged 1.1 points and 1.0 rebounds. Nelson signed with the Bulls on April 4 but didn't play for them. ... The Raptors acquired guard Marco Belinelli from the Warriors in exchange for forward Devean George and signed free agent center Rasho Nesterovic to a one-year, $2 million deal.
